CALB Reports Steady Order Book Growth Ahead of Capacity Additions
China Aviation Lithium Battery Co., Ltd. (CALB) told investors its order backlog continued to grow through the latest reporting period, supported by demand from commercial vehicle manufacturers and energy storage system integrators, alongside its traditional passenger EV customer base.
Diversifying the customer base
Company management highlighted a deliberate strategy to broaden CALB's customer mix beyond passenger vehicles, pointing to growing contributions from bus and truck electrification programs as well as utility and industrial storage deployments. Executives said this diversification helps smooth demand volatility tied to any single vehicle segment.
Capacity additions
CALB has continued to bring new manufacturing capacity online across its production base, with management citing improved utilization rates as recently added lines ramp toward full output. The company said further capacity decisions would remain tied to confirmed order commitments rather than speculative expansion.
Margin outlook
Executives acknowledged that industry-wide pricing pressure on lithium-ion cells remains a factor in near-term margins, but said scale efficiencies and a richer product mix, including higher-value storage contracts, are expected to help offset some of that pressure over time.
